Acupuncture

Acupuncture is not only the most researched complimentary and alternative medicine, but has thousands of years of experience behind it.  From an Eastern perspective of acupuncture, energy fields known as acupuncture meridians can become blocked or have improper flow of energy known as "Qi" which leads to symptoms of pain, fatigue, and even disease.  Acupuncture has the ability to regulate Qi within the meridians facilitating proper flow and restoring balance.

Physiologically speaking, acupuncture has the ability to release natural pain killers, such as endorphins and encephalins, locally which is part of how they assist in healing injuries.  They also work by increasing blood flow to an area and neurological feedback to the brain to help facilitate communication with the affected area and the central nervous system.  Placebo controlled studies have shown that Acupuncture done on "sham" points or points just off traditional acupuncture points by 1 cm can produced a decrease in results by as much as 70% as compared to using the traditional acupuncture points.

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture

What is Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture?

Also known as Cosmetic Acupuncture, this therapy increases circulation to the skin and stimulates collagen production to fill lines, tonify the skin and create a healthy, glowing complexion.

These treatments are used to:

  • diminish fine lines and wrinkles
  • tighten sagging skin
  • tighten jowls
  • tighten pores
  • reduce stress lines in the face

How does it work?

Specialty crafted acupuncture needles are superficially inserted around problem areas. These needles stimulate facial muscles and help increase blood flow to the skin. This stimulation helps to restore strength to the muscle of the face that weaken over time which aids in tone and reduces lines, sagging, and jowls. The increased blood flow aids in increased collagen production that has been lost over time. The boost in collagen helps to fill facial depressions, tighten pores, and produce an overall healthy complexion.

Is it effective?

A study published in the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture showed among 300 cases treated with facial  rejuvenation acupuncture, 90% had marked effects included improvement of skin elasticity, increase of facial tone, improvement in complexion, and overall rejuvenation. Typically, visible results begin to show after 6-7 treatments.

How do I get started?

In an initial intake the target areas are identified and then the first session takes place. A typical session of facial rejuvenation acupuncture lasts for about 90 minutes. The face is prepared with special cleanser and special facial acupuncture needles are inserted. The actual needle time is between 30-40 minutes. A course of facial rejuvenation acupuncture consists of 10 to 15 treatments. In the beginning sessions are done once per week. Maintenance sessions may be monthly or seasonally to maintain muscle tone and firmness of the skin.
