Nebulized Glutathione Treatment
Indications
Pulmonary Disease: Glutathione(GSH) is the major lung anti-oxidant. In conditions such as Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, Cystic Fibrosis, Asthma, and Emphysema changes in the metabolism of Glutathione in the lung has been shown to be a central feature. Providing the lungs with glutathione decreases the cellular damage and inflammation and repairs the tissues.
Upper Respiratory Tract Infections: Glutathione can decrease nasal obstruction, nasal mucous and ear fullness. It has also been shown to improve immune defenses and hasten recovery.
Liver Disease and Detoxification: In order for a major pathway of detoxification in the liver to function, Glutathione is needed. The elimination of mercury and lead require glutathione to be present in the liver. Nebulized glutathione is indicated in cases of fatty liver, acute and chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis and where there is impairment of the liver's detoxification system.
Other Conditions: Parkinsons, Huntingtons, Alzheimers, Diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis patients have a deficiency of glutathione in their tissues and cells.
How it works
Glutahione is a powerful anti-oxidant that protects many tissues of the body from damage. Depletion of glutathione occurs in times of stress, smoking, any pharmaceutical drug intake, tissue injury, ionizing radiation, iron overload and bacterial or viral infections. When the body is depleted of glutathione inflammation increases, immunity decreases, and the health of the body is compromised.
What to Expect
The treatment takes 15 minutes and is given in the office. A nebulizer is placed over the nose and mouth and the patient is asked to breathe normally as the glutathione is administered through the nebulizer.
Side Effects
In some sensitive individuals with asthma, nebulized glutathione has been shown to cause coughing and breathlessness which is transient. If you do have asthma, ensure that the Doctor is aware of your condition.
